Going to Laolongtou (Old Dragon’s Head)(老龙头) boarding on China bullet train (2); Buying train ticket
In China, boarding train is similar to boarding air plane.
Boarding train in China has some difficulty, we need to prepare for the ticket before 2 or 3 days on board.
We explain how to buy train ticket in China.
Confirming train ticket before boarding.
We will find 7:00 am departure in Beijing railway station and 18:00 pm departure in “Shanhaiguan (山海关)” railway station.
Using bullet train, it takes 2 hours and 30 minutes in one way and we can stay there about 8 hours.
We need to access “houchepiao (铁友)” web site. (http://huochepiao.tieyou.com/)
You can only check time table and this site cannot buy thickets.
This site only provides Chinese.
If you want to see in English, you can choose “English” (Right side).
And page will change other web site, Ctrip.
So, we will explain in Chinese Site.
- Departure Station; “北京”
- Arrival Station; “山海关”
- Select the date from calendar.
- Click the orange button.
We will buy round trip ticket and need to select from “単程” to “往返”.
Going to 山海关(去程)
- Select the train type (车型选择); Check bullet train (高铁/动车)
- Departure time (发车时间); Check Morning （上午(6-12点)）
Back to 北京 (返程)
- Select the train type (车型选择); Check bullet train (高铁/动车)
- Departure time; Check evening （下午(12-18点)）
Our boarding train is under these.
- Going to Shanhaiguan; Train No. is “D29” and Departure 6:58 am; First class; Price 110.5 yuan
- Back to Beijing; Train No. is “D18” and Departure 17:34 am; First class; Price 110.5 yuan

- When the rest of the ticket is very few, this site show “票少”.
- When the ticket is sold out, this site show “无票”.
- When the initial character is “D”, this means 200 km over per hour running train.
- When the initial character is “G”, this means 300 km over per hour running train.
- There are first class type of seat and second class type of seat.
- The price difference is only 18 yuan; we recommend first class type of seat.
- Clicking “经停站”, you can see the terminal station.
The place for buying
You can buy the ticket in Beijing railway station but this may have some difficulty.
Lining is long and you need to negotiate in Chinese. (There is a ticket selling place in Beijing station for foreigners.)

There needs charge and you need 5 yuan per ticket and there are many selling place in downtown.

In the ticket shop, the salesclerk often only know Chinese and you need to prepare for some paper.

- If salesclerk says “没有”(no seats), we should negotiate more.
- Some clerk often says without survey or there may only remain one-side ticket.
- You often need tough negotiation.
- If the salesclerk says “有”, this means “exists”.
Payment
Next, you need to pay and need 110.5yuan ×2.＝221 yuan.
And there needs charge; 221 yuan + 5yuan + 5yuan = 231yuan.
Hearing Chinese is difficult and you should prepare for writing.
You need passport and money for buy.
Passport number is printed on the ticket (11/2015) and this ticket is only for you.
Waiting for some time, you can get ticket, receipt and charge.
You must confirm ticket and charge.
You need to check boarding date and time, train number and passport number.
If it is wrong, you cannot board.
